Design on the catwalk

Recently some of our work featured on the catwalk at the When Freddie Met Lilly Spring Valentina Collection launch evening.  We were super excited to have one of our framed chalkboard prints under the beautiful arbour covered in gorgeous flowers.  Our chalkboard come in a variety of sizes and finishing options, with unframed pieces starting from as little as $80 for the large size below. We also hire out a range of different sized and styles of framed options.

Our 'Here comes the Bride' banner also appeared, being carried by Zoe, the beautiful flower girl. If you have little people in your bridal party our banners are a great accessory that will have everyone captivated. Our one sided standard banners start at $75, and for just a little more we can personalise the other side to announce the newlyweds after the ceremony.

View a small highlight from the evening on our instagram account.

One of the important differences with working with LaPapeterie is our ability to print and finish just about everything we create, from the smallest unique invitations to huge posters, banners and backdrops for just about any occasion. That means you don't have to go anywhere else to get the designs printed on special paper or odd sizes - we do it all on site.

Cocktail Fun Design

How about some cocktails for your next event?  Some of our favourites were on offer here.

Using great design on your buffet tables whether it be for drinks, lollies, or something else help to make your guests feel comfortable and at ease.  Here we used simple instructions incorporated into elegant designs.

These designs included the main grab a drink signs, as well as labels for the jars full of sweets saying thank you. We also included name tags for each cocktail available.

Cheers Drink Tags

Our Cheers drink tags are the perfect accessories for your drink jars. The vintage homemade style is welcoming and fits so well for any occasion.

Fresh limes from the garden add the zest to these vodka and sodas. This stunning Brisbane weather means a refreshing drink is just the ticket.
A little twine to tie the cheers drink tags on mismatched jars finished off this rustic homely style.

How good was Lovelocked!

Our wedding stationery took pride of place on the Lovelocked display along with Miss Weddings beautiful styling.

We love the ombre roses that adorned our table, and we chose a mid range pink to complement, and a little gold glitter to catch the light.  Our design style is simple and understated with that bit of Parisienne chic thrown in.
If you grabbed one of the Lovelocked gift bags you will have been lucky enough to score a whole lot of goodies including one of our sparklers.  Just an example of what we can create to make your special day even better.
If you're looking for a unique and sophisticated design then make a time to talk to us.

Design Trends

I so agree with some of these trends.

Simplicity is always hot, and never goes out of style, as long as it achieving the goals from the get go.
A genuine understanding of a business leads to good design, especially for logos.  Creating an identity that not only looks good but makes sense and works with the brand to engage the customer.

If you're interested in discussing your design needs. Make a time now.

Exciting days ahead.  Roll on 2014.

Naked Cake DIY

Like many if you I'm sure I grew up with the Women's Weekly Birthday cake book. Every birthday it would come out, and my mum would moan in self doubt at my selection. Traditions have moved on and now I do the same thing. Starting out with great confidence but really only a 50% success rate. Don't get me wrong everyone compliments and there are oohs and ahhh. However I know the short cuts I have taken or where I expected it to work out better.
So full of confidence I started the quest for the perfect naked cake.
I baked the rather simple basic cake layers. A chose to do two chocolate and one vanilla layer to add to the mix. Okay I did have one failure, so actually I cooked four cakes, but that's by the by.
Now on to the decorating. The actual fun stuff.
My first tip is to cut each layer carefully, and as even as possible. In between each cake layer I added strawberry jam, strawberries and cream. All my favourite things.

All went well which was fairly surprising.
Finally on the top layer I added sifted icing sugar, but not too much. Just enough to add a little freshness of white.
Then a few strawberries, and some cut flowers.

Perfect!

Our only problem was serving up. It was a very tall cake, so we had very high slices.

I would highly recommend giving this a go. It was fairly easy and the result was an impressive cake that everyone liked and commented on. Perfect for small parties.
