Modern Invitations for the Modern Bride

Modern wedding stationery can be simple, yet stylish.
Here Emma & Ethan decided on bright colours to match their gorgeous waterview venue, and their vibrant personalities.  Many couples are opting for a less traditional take on invitations, expecially for a reception like theirs with cocktails and dancing. The theme takes its inspiration from the amazing view at the venue - fun, surf and sand.

{Top Tip}
When inviting guests with children it is a good idea to specify if you are inviting the whole family. Children at a wedding can be a tricky social etiquette dilemma. If you invite one do you have to invite all? Emma & Ethan had an age limit (over 5s only) but I guess it depends on your family dynamics. In this case when all of the family were invited the invitations read - The Smith Family, and when it was just certain they read - Francis, Keith & Francis.

Paua Theme Reception

Add something a little different to your reception stationery with colour and texture.  Paua has a gorgeous pearlence, and reflects light beautifully.  Here we used crushed paua in the shape of a heart on menus and placecards, with a simple font that compliments the design. As the candle light flickers the hearts come to life, shining and sparkling through the evening.

We Design - You Print

We are looking forward to introducing a new concept in wedding invitations.  Perfect for those who love scrapbooking and hand crafts.  We not only offer a full design and print service, but also a design service where we create a unique design that you can then print and put together yourself.  This gives brides the opportunity to save money, allows them enjoy the pleasure in bringing their stationery to life and add their own individual embellishments if they want. With our template options starting at as little as $69 for Invitations and RSVP artwork it's a cost effective way to produce unique and gorgeous invitations for your special day.

Finished artwork is supplied as a PDF ready for you to print at home, or take to your local print and copy shop.

Here's a look at one of our design options using the Striped Invite and RSVP, with a Oval Monogram Seal. Depending on your budget and requirements we can also add a direction card, or create a map, as well as place cards, order of service, menus, thank you cards and anything you may need.

Time Your Invitations Perfectly

To have everything run smoothly on your wedding day, and to enjoy the lead up it is important to have a timeline and work out when you have to perform each task.  Your invitations should be posted 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding date.  Depending on the style and complexity of your invitations they may take as little as a couple of days, or several weeks.  This will depend on whether you are handcrafting the invitations yourself, using a specialist supplier, or on the extra embellishment and features that you may like to use.

If you are making the invitation yourself it is always a good idea to allow a couple of extra weeks, just incase your schedule changes, and time becomes a little tight.  When confirming numbers it is prudent to order extras.

To determine your RSVP date, check with your venue, normally two weeks before the date works well. Then you can confirm numbers in the week before the big day.

When planning a destination wedding, or if you have guests traveling from overseas to attend a Save this Date card will be beneficial for your guests.  These can be sent up to one year before the wedding.  This will help to ensure the family and friends you want to share your special day with can make the event.

Having fun

Setting the tone in your invitation is a great way of letting people know what to expect at your event, as well as telling them all the usual details such as time, place and the dress code. If you are planning a fun event make sure your invitations represent that. Start with something simple and go from there.

These are the first draft ideas for Claire's 30th Birthday invitations. It's going to be a fun day with just her girl friends, a bit of a throwback to more childish parties when they were younger. We've started off with a rosette (in pink of course) which we have built up into a sophisticated version of a childs birthday badge.

Simple Heart Swirl Invitations

This is a simple, yet elegant and classy design for those of you who are choosing a strong colour theme for your wedding. Whilst we have shown it in a fiery and passionate red, it can also suit other colours and tones to match your theme. The use of hearts in a floral design is perfect for setting a wonderfully romantic tone, especially suitable for a small intimate wedding with close family and friends.
